Second Annual Kramer Events Mix Off!

Spring has sprung and you know what that means; the start of wedding season! To get our team pumped for all our upcoming events, we hosted our Second Annual Kramer Events Team Appreciation and Mix Off party. We had such a blast with last year’s mix off we just had to do it again and our team was chomping at the bit to win this year’s trophy.

Our DJs practiced daily hoping to steal the title and the trophy from DJ Darren (or, as some of us like to call him, DJ D. Wang) while our production crew decked out our warehouse with all our amazing lights and a ton of disco balls. Rib Line came by and dropped off some delicious sandwiches and Central Coast Brewing brought their Tactical Thirst Response Unit.

All of our DJs put on an excellent show but only one could drink beer from the Kramer Events Mix Off trophy. Beating out Darren by just one vote, DJ Chase won the mix off and impressed the crowd with how much he has improved over the course of just one year.

Central Coast Brewing brings the beer taps to you with their Tactical Thirst Response Unit. What’s a Tactical Thirst Response Unit, you ask? Well it’s a vintage 1980 Mercedes Benz truck that Central Coast Brewing converted into a mobile party patrol that delivers fresh, local beer to your special event. If a beer truck with 4 beer taps on it wasn’t cool enough, Central Coast Brewing takes great pride in being a vendor that truly brings the fun to any event. They work hard to ensure that clients don’t just get beer, but the type of beers that go best with their event. Those who book the truck get to tour the brewery beforehand and do a tasting to determine what beers they want to occupy the four taps. Clients are not limited to the four beers but may choose multiple beers to be switched out throughout of the event. Most people tend to stick with their Lucky Day IPA or Topless Blonde Ale, but the more adventurous may lean to The OG Chai Ale. No matter what beers you choose, Tactical Thirst Response Unit will make your event and event to remember.

What’s in a mission statement? Why is it important? It it just one of those boring statements that goes in a team member handbook that nobody reads?

It could be, or it could be a reminder of why we are in business in the first place. It brings you back to the basics that drives your organization. When faced with the question of where does your organization go next, you can look back at your mission to help keep you on tract.

For the longest time our mission has been to “Raise the public’s expectation of event professionals” We want to never stop improving what we do and the event services we offer. We want to continue to innovate and raise the bar for what people should expect out of their event professionals. And continue to raise our own internal standards of how things should be done. This has been a driving force for our organization.

But it left out the main ingredient… Our Team

Our team is what makes the magic happen. Without them all we can do is dream and plan. They help us do and accomplish. We are very lucky to have some talented people who care about their work. The team members who walk through our doors will always be our greatest asset. We need to make sure we never forget that and provide an environment for them that makes them happy to be working here. We owe that much to our team. Life’s too short to go to a job everyday that you do not love. We’ve got many ideas on how to step up what we are doing, but it all starts with recognizing our mission. Our new mission is:

“To Raise the public’s expectation of event professionals and be an awesome place to work”

Our new vision paints a very clear path for us to follow in the future. But that’s only half the battle. Words and statements without action behind it are worthless. Now that our vision is set, it’s time for the rubber to meet the pavement and start making it happen.

How long have you been with Kramer Events? Since October 2012.

Why did you become a DJ? I became a DJ because I am passionate about people. I love helping them create and enjoy an event their guests will be raving about for a long time. Music moves people – to tears, to laughter, or just to the dance floor – and I relish any opportunity to do just that.

What’s your favorite part about working for Kramer Events? Getting to make people’s special occasions perfect and seeing the absolute, exhausted joy on their face at the end of their event and getting a big hug from the bride and groom.

What’s your favorite song to hear/play at a wedding and why? I love busting out old school hip hop and seeing the formal-clad guests start rapping along. It’s always funny when the mother of the bride knows every word to Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs.”

What should every bride know before meeting with their wedding DJ? If you’ve chosen Kramer, you are in good hands. Probably the best hands. They’re very large and capable. Seriously, we are here to make your life easier so just let us know how we can serve you.

What general advice would you give a bride preparing for her wedding? I know it’s a stressful time, but it’s also super exciting and you should enjoy all of it – the planning, the preparation, and of course the Big Day itself. If you have any requests, just let me know and I will do my absolute best to make it happen so you have less to worry about and can enjoy this time even more.

What do you think makes the Central Coast an amazing wedding destination? It could be the gorgeous year-round weather. It could be the variety of the landscapes- our cities, beaches, hills, vineyards, and countryside are each unique and inspiring. We are also very spoiled to have a number of incredible venues to choose from. The combination of these elements insures you will have a beautiful wedding that is distinctly YOU.

Why did you become a DJ? I love music and I love seeing hundred of people sharing the same emotions while listening to the songs I love.

What’s your favorite part about working for Kramer Events? The amazing people I work with who all love the same thing I do; putting a smile on a bride and groom’s faces.

What’s your favorite song to hear/play at a wedding and why? Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Every time I play this, it creates an amazing atmosphere with incredible energy that always puts a smile on my face.

What should every bride know before meeting with their wedding DJ? A bride should completely envision her wedding day before she meets with her DJ so she is ready to describe what will make her wedding day perfect.

What general advice would you give a bride preparing for her wedding? It can be overwhelming but, at the end of the day the wedding will be what you make of it. As long as you enjoy the moment, your guest will as well.

What do you think makes the Central Coast an amazing wedding destination? The amazing weather and relaxing feel of the Central Coast seems to invite everyone to let loose and and have a great time.

1) Mexican Shrimp Ceviche – Marinated in Lemon & Lime Juices, Cumin, Coriander, Garlic, Red Onion, Fresh Herbs; Local Avocado, Crunchy Tortilla Chips with Lime Salt. Who doesn’t love a good Ceviche, and if it’s made correctly it will be light and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day.

2) Black Bean & Sweet Corn Empanadas – Fresh Corn Dough, Black Beans, Sweet Corn, Onions, Garlic, Cilantro, Spices, Chipotle-Lime Sour Cream. Unlike other empanadas out there, Chef Russ has mastered the art of making ours light and airy. It is easy, if these aren’t being passed, to just park yourself at the appetizer station and eat and eat these without feeling full.

3) Mini Smoked Fish Tacos – Local Rock Cod, Corn Tortillas, Cilantro Cream, Diced See Canyon Apples. We pride ourselves on working with local resources. We get our fish when it’s in season, preferably from the Central Coast. Chef Russ smokes the fish in-house, and of course we use See Canyon apples when they’re in season!

4) Rustic Pizza off the Grill – Red Onion, Gorgonzola, Fresh Rosemary, Balsamic Vinegar. Another reason to love our BBQ Olaf. There are endless ways to make a pizza. All doughs are made fresh the day of an event, and cooked on-site.

5) Peacock Farm’s Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta – Peacock Farm’s Heirloom Tomato, Fresh Basil, Garlic, Local Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Victoria Milk Toasts. Tomatoes pair so well with so many wine offerings in this county, you just can’t go wrong with a good Bruschetta. We shop the day of an event for all our produce, which means that many times the produce has been picked the same day we’ll buy it at the market. Hard to go wrong with food so fresh.
